Access to Strandmeer Private Estate is via the Keurboomsrivier Road, located 6km north of Plettenberg Bay along the N2 national highway. The architecturally-themed homes of Strandmeer are nestled in a park-like setting with indigenous trees and plants lining the roads and pathways, providing a tranquil, natural, environment. Residents have access to a communal swimming pool, floodlit tennis court and a private boat launching site.
Residents of the estate can enjoy the many outdoor activities that Plettenberg Bay & the Garden Route have to offer:
Hiking | Trail Running | Mountain Biking
Robberg, Tsitsikamma and Harkerville nature reserves provide scenic hiking, biking and running trails offering the some of the best natural surroundings including river, beaches, forest, lagoon and Fynbos.
Kayaking | Boating
Keurbooms Lagoon and River provide a wonderful setting to enjoy motor-boat, sailing and kayaking activities. The river is navigable by motor-boat for about 4km upriver, thereafter canoes and kayaks can explore much further and utilize the serviced camping sites offered by Cape Nature. Boats launched from the estate’s private slipway are required to be licensed and display the necessary permits needed to enter the Keurbooms Nature Reserve.
Fishing | Swimming | Surfing
Strandmeer Private Estate borders unspoiled and uncrowded beaches, ideal for swimming and surfing. It is recommended to only swim or surf where there are lifeguards on duty. For fishermen, the ocean, river mouths, lagoons and gullies offer excellent opportunities.
Dolphin & Whale Watching
Plettenberg Bay is best known for its beaches and annual whale season, when Southern Right & Humpback whales migrate to our relatively warm waters to mate and calve their young. Whale season is best enjoyed between June and November, but Minke whales and dolphins inhabit the bay year-round. Dolphins can often be spotted playing in the waves off Keurbooms Beach. Robberg Peninsula is home to a thriving colony of Cape Fur seals and hikers may catch a glimpse of a Great White shark from the peninsula.
Golfing
Plettenberg Bay offers two first class golf courses with driving range facilities at Goose Valley and Plettenberg Bay Country Club.
Plett Winelands
Plettenberg Bay is South Africa’s newest Wine of Origin region, with 16 producing vineyards and a number of excellent estates offering both tasting facilities and restaurants to be found in both the Crags and Harkerville sides of Plett.
